About Simply Ducky About Simply Ducky

I first started using Glycerin soap back in early 2006 when I had a rough time with dry skin and cracked knuckles during a particularly dry winter. A friend suggested I try Glycerin Soap instead of the usual commercial brand I had been using for years. Hesitant at first, I quickly discoverd that Glycerin soap didn't irritate my cracked skin and was a great help in keeping my skin moist. Time passed and it wasn't until I found myself looking for a new hobby that I wondered about how Glycerin Soap was made and I began researching soap crafting in general and Glycerin soap in particular.
Crispin looking confused
Here I am looking entirely confused at my very first
day at the Antigonish Farmer's Market in May 2009 ...
One thing has lead to another and now I find myself greatly enjoying my experiments with Glycerin soap molds, scents, and dyes. I've also begun making hand poured Soy candles - something I honestly didn't think I would enjoy as much as I do. As tends to happen with most people, sooner or later you wonder to yourself if there is a way to make a living doing something that you greatly enjoy...
Crispin looking slightly less confused
... and here I am looking slightly less confused later that same fall.
In the spring of 2009 I completed work on a business plan to turn what has been a very enjoyable hobby into part of a larger business operation. To date interest from the various vendors I have approached has been very positive and with the first few Antigonish Farmer's Market days behind me I can safely say that my soap and candles have proven to be a hit! I look forward to offering even more variety in the future as I gradually work towards an expanded product line.
